WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST
1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
When the identity of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable. When the believer does not know who he is in Christ, he may suffer a lot of abuse in life. Many believers out of ignorant do not know what they have become in Christ, what they have in Christ, and what Christ can do through them.
They face the same life challenges as unbelievers. They attend the same school and have common ambitions in life. Therefore, they cannot tell any benefit they have or what change in them that makes them different from the unbeliever. This state makes them sometimes think that being a believer has no benefits or advantages.
Being born again is not just a change of mind, it is a new birth, it is a new life, new spirit, and new identity. It is a man recreated anew. It is a resurrection from spiritual death. It is becoming a citizen of heaven. It is getting your name written in the book of life permanently.
The man in Christ has become a new being. This new being has a new identity, features, abilities, rights, privileges, and responsibilities. This new man is different from the old man. This new man is in Christ; therefore, Christ is his identity. As Christ is, so is he now on this earth.
He is not inferior or superior to who Christ is. All the blessings of peace, power, righteousness, authority, forgiveness, eternal life, victory over sin, Satan and demons, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and others which are in Christ are for the believer.
These things define who you are in Christ. The believer is not defined by material things. The believer is not of this world. These spiritual blessings are what make you different from the unbeliever. See yourself in this light, not in the light of the old man.
Condemnation is not of God. Sometimes when Christians feel condemned especially after doing something wrong instead of rebuking the feeling and confessing their identity in Christ they say that its the Holy Spirit or God correcting or trying to point them to repentance; that's so wrong.
God does not reveal faults to you because He does not impute or record sin to ur account. He rather reveal Christ to you which is the work of the Holy Spirit and in that revelation you find your identity and when you know who you are in Christ you will act accordingly that's why we renew our minds which is aligning and reckoning and acknowledging the realities that Christ has made you (Rom12:3).
Heb.10.2b - Since the worshipers had once for all been cleansed, they would no longer have any guilt or consciousness or conscience of sin. Heb.10.22 - Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality ........ 2 CORINTHIANS 5: 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Often many believers make statements like, “we are all sinners, none is righteous, and our righteousness is like a filthy rag before God”. These are true for the man who is not born again. The unbeliever is a sinner even when he does everything right. But the man in Christ is righteous.
His righteousness is that of Christ's. Your wrong or good act as a Christian does not negate, reduce or increase your righteousness. You are righteous by faith in Christ not by your deeds. Therefore, no Christian can be called a sinner by just looking at his conduct. Christians are righteous and unbelievers are sinners. The Christian is justified and the unbeliever is guilty of sin.
The Christian is sanctified or holy and the unbeliever is unholy. The Christian has received forgiveness but the unbeliever has not received forgiveness even though forgiveness is available for all. The Christian is light but the unbeliever is darkness. All these status and spiritual blessings of the Christian is as a result of grace through faith in Christ Jesus.
If you are not yet born again, receive Christ into your heart and become righteous and justified. 1Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is God seeing all men where he had always wanted to see them, in Christ. It is not just an experience but rather a reality which reveals the intention, purpose, plan and character of God.
Looking at the zeal that believers have today to please the Lord, it is evident that we can easily know what pleases the Father by looking at who we are in Christ.
The knowledge of salvation is that the Father has made us one with himself by giving us his Spirit. This means that we have attained his intention, purpose, plan and character, therefore our pleasure must be to see all men saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, just like our Father.
In other words, it displeases the Father to see men perish. When salvation is understood as God’s will and pleasure, it affects every area of our worship and relationships with fellow men, even our prayer is affected by this. We would then pray for the salvation of men rather than for them to die. We would preach to them rather than gossip about them. This is the beauty of the life that is found in Christ.
Romans 8 vs 1 Therefore there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. Let's preach Christ , let's not condemn or use unbelievers language. Focus on Christ only, we have found Him whom Moses wrote in the books of law and whom the prophets wrote about: His name is Jesus . We are in Him, His in us.
John 2 vs 45 (talk about believers in Christ, who we are in Christ, what Christ can do through us. John 4 vs 10 if only u knew what God gives and who it is that is asking you for a drink, you would ask him and he would give you life giving water. Life giving water is all I desire(Christ Word).
