OVERCOMING BY THE WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY -WHAT DOES IT MEAN??
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:10-11)
How victorious this is! They overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony. Now, this testimony here is not the kind you give when you buy a new car, build a house or gets a new job, visa or testifying on the pulpit and saying "praise the Lord, i prayed and fasted for 30 days and after that I received a financial breakthrough, met a husband/wife etc. NO!"
And overcoming the devil is not by "sprinkling the blood or pleading the blood," those are not what the Word teaches. They overcame him by the word of their testimony, the word of their testimony is the message of His death, burial and resurrection. When did they overcame? when they believed in Jesus and received salvation. They could not allow death to keep hold on their lives or keep them in bondage( Rev 12:11).
The blood of Jesus speaks of His sacrifice and not some liquid in a bowel or blanket covering, the word of our testimony speaks of what (Jesus) His sacrifice has accomplished. When we confess, preach, sings or teach what the blood has accomplished we are affirming our victory over the cohorts of darkness and proclaiming the victory of our God, that is your weapon mighty through God. Paul said, I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1.
When Jesus said to His disciples : DO THIS in remembrance of me in the gospels that is exactly what He meant. Keep my testimony in your mouth, as you proclaim what I have accomplished you put me in remembrance. As you partake of the communion, which is the message of faith that brings faith for salvation you are proclaiming the blood of His death. His blood reconciled us to God, and gave us life.
Hebrews 12:24 says, "And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant/testament, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel." Stand strong on your faith in the blood of Jesus. That blood speaks your salvation, deliverance, wholeness, perfection, and eternal victory over Satan, sin and death. This is already accomplished for us through the cross. That is our testimony.
WE PREACH CHRIST, NOT PERSONAL TESTIMONIES!
2 Corinthians 4:5, says "For we PREACH NOT OURSELVES, but Christ Jesus the Lord..."
Pastors who know the scriptures don't have time for personal testimonies when preaching. Why? Because testimonies are not the message.
Preaching more on personal testimonies and wasting time listening to believers giving personal testimonies is a big sign that the preacher is not rooted in the word.
The Message of Christ needs no help! The message is strong on its own and does not need additional support. The gospel alone is the POWER not personal testimonies - Rom 1:16."Testimony" in the context of this post is personal goodies. For instance "I bought a car after I prayed and fasted for 7 days" or " I received open doors after I gave tithe" or "Praise God, I met my fiance and in one month he has paid dowry, praise God" etc.
All these are personal testimonies.Personal testimonies are not the message. Preaching your personal testimonies only helps in fixing the people's faith on the preacher and not on Christ - this is erroneous!
We preach Christ and not ourselves or our personal testimonies.
