Does God interfere with our choices or make choices for us?

Should we blame God for the choices we make? Is God silent when something bad happens to us? Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” God said “let THEM(man) have dominion NOT let us(God and man). He gave man dominion over the earth. God created man with desires and God gave man the freedom to choose. Jesus never interfered with anybody’s choice and by implication God does not. Jesus did not choose partners for people and by implication God does not choose partners for people. God does not interfere or make choices for us but He helps us to make correct decisions. His word is there to guide us in making good choices for our safety. The word of God is a lamp to our feet (Ps 119:105). The word of God has already brightened our path. If we pay attention to the scriptures, we will not stumble. -His word says that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14) but if we choose to get married to an unbeliever, then we should be set to face the consequences.

-The word of God says that we should flee from a man who has anger (Proverbs 22:24) but if you choose to overlook a man’s anger and get married to him, then you have chosen to face the consequences of living with an angry man. So do not blame God or ask why He is silent. He is not silent. He is constantly speaking via His word. His word guides us to make good decisions.

-If your neighbors have become terrorists and are making life unbearable for you. Why blame God. He asked you to share the Good News(Mark 16:15). If you had done so, you will not be surrounded by terrorists and the world will be more peaceful. No Christian who fellowships with God can accept to engage in evil activities or continue to engage in evil activities. God does not react, He pro-acts. He has already answered all of our questions in His word. His word is wisdom. If you are asking God to make a choice for you, He will not do so because He does not interfere with our choices. He did not interfere with Adam and Eve’s choice and by implication He will not interfere with the choices we make. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He changeth not (Malachi 3:6).

Consider His word before making any decision. Stop blaming God or asking why He is silent. God has given us the ability to make a choice whether it pleases God or not and He has given us His word to help us make good choices. We have a choice to either submit to His word or follow the desires of our flesh. God does not override anybody’s decision. If you want to end up as a pilot, that is your choice. If you want to be a prostitute, it is your choice. If you want to be committed in church, it is your choice. If you want to stay in your marriage, that is your choice. If you want to divorce, God will not stop you either.

God wants everybody to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth(1 Timothy 2:4). He has done His part by giving up Jesus to pay the price but He cannot compel anyone to accept the sacrificial work of Jesus in order to be saved. Whosoever believes is the right of humanity and when you make the choice, it is respected. Man makes the choice and we live with the pleasure or consequences of our choices. God should not be blamed. Even after we are born-again, we make choices and if we do not stay in fellowship with the Father, we will end up being carried away by our own lust. If we do not stay in fellowship with the Father after we are born-again, our desires will end up controlling us just like unbelievers.

A prostitute who wants to stop prostitution after being born-again has to stay in fellowship with the Father through His word, prayer, worship etc. If he/she does not stay in Fellowship with the Father, the desires of the flesh will end up controlling him/her.

When a believer stays in Fellowship with the Father, his or her desires submit to the word of God. He/she has self-control because the love of Christ in the believer constraints him. His desires do not control him anymore. Only the nature of God takes control of Him. though He may desire sometimes to go the wrong way, he eventually listens to His nature and goes the right way. Most often, we do not follow what is written in His word but we are drawn away by our own lust and think it is God who decided. We are drawn by the desires of the flesh and end up making bad choices because our greed get in the way. Why blame God for allowing you to marry a man who keeps tormenting you?

Did you consider the word of God before making that decision? So do not blame God or ask why He is silent. The choice is ours. Stop blaming God. He has done His part. We ought to make decisions that align with His word. When we make wrong decisions and end up unhappy, do not blame God.

Choices are made according to people’s desires and God respects our desires. He allows us to have desires and He does not influence our choices. -If you choose to get married to a luke-warm believer, then be set to reap the possible consequences. -If you choose to get married to a man who loves to fellowship with God, you will certainly reap the fruit of it. -If you do not eat healthy and end up with a health problem, why blame God? No matter the pressures of life, make decisions that align with the word of God and you will know so much peace. God’s sovereignty is not found in individuals or individual actions or choices. God’s sovereignty is found only in Christ. His sovereignty is seen and explained only within the parameters of salvation.

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his good will” (Ephesians 1:4-5)

The main reason for failure in the body of Christ has been a lack of knowledge in the subject of redemption as contained in the New Testament. Our opening verses affirm that the disobedience of Adam wasn’t a surprise to God hence, God in His foreknowledge provided remedy in Christ.

Revelation 13:8 says, “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb Slain FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD”. This also is a proof to the fact that the coming of Jesus to die for the sins of mankind wasn’t an afterthought but the thought.

So our salvation is a product of foreknowledge and predestination. The foreknowledge of God implies knowing before time. This is because He (God) is all knowing BUT does not influence the outcome of things neither does He influence the choices of man. In God’s foreknowledge and predestination, God had concluded that every man shall only be saved in Christ, but the CHOICE is that of the INDIVIDUAL.

The Apostle Paul explains to us the basics of salvation in Romans 10:9-10, it says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.

So everyone born into this world, their salvation has been fully paid for. However, the vital experience of salvation is only possible when the person makes a CHOICE and consciously affirm the Lordship of Jesus Christ over his life. Once you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the death and confess with your mouth that He is Lord over your life, instantly, you become a child of God. Thanks be to God for His Grace and mercy that speaks for us even when we make mistakes. He makes a way of escape for His children even when we make mistakes.

Blessed?
