CAN A BELIEVER LOSE SALVATION?
Maybe we should start by correcting the question before providing the answer. WHOSE SALVATION???? Luke 3:6 And all flesh shall see THE SALVATION OF GOD.
Act 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that THE SALVATION OF GOD is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.Phil 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but TO YOU OF SALVATION, AND THAT OF GOD
SO, IT IS THE 'SALVATION OF GOD' NOT YOURS. YOU ARE A BENEFICIARY. YOU RECEIVE WHAT IS GIVEN. WHICHEVER WAY IT IS GIVEN. WHAT IS GIVEN ? HOW IS IT GIVEN ? LET'S SEE...Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became THE AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey him.
To OBEY means to believe in Jesus or faith in Jesus Christ (Rom 5:19). His OBEDIENCE has been credited to us because of our faith in Him. What is given is Eternal Salvation!!. That is the brand Jesus authors. a.k.a Eternal life.
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE. a.k.a Everlasting life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE.
You can reject it before you have it. Once you have it, it is not yours to change! You can not make it 'temporary', because you received it. Jesus gives a salvation sustained ONLY by the power of God. He never needed your help in authoring it, why should He need your help to finish it ?
Heb 12:2 Looking unto JESUS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
HE HAS GOT THE POWER !
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
IT IS IN HIS HANDS - NOT YOURS !
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND.
HE IS ABLE TO SAVE WELL. THAT'S HIS JOB!
Heb 7:25 Wherefore HE IS ABLE ALSO TO SAVE THEM TO THE UTTERMOST that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
He is able! Don't underrate Him!
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became THE AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey him;
THE SALVATION JESUS GIVES IS NOT TEMPORARY/PARTIAL. IT IS ETERNAL. IF SALVATION YOU HAVE BEEN PREACHING IS INTALLMENTS, IT IS NOT THE SALVATION FROM JESUS
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE.
Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION unto all them that obey him;
Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected FOREVER THEM THAT ARE SANCTIFIED.
Jude 1:24 Now UNTO HIM THAT IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU FROM FALLING, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy
So, salvation is not yours. It is the Lord's.
Once you come to Jesus, it is His to keep - or lose you. Not you to keep - or lose yourself.
Luke 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, IF HE LOSE ONE OF THEM, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
See, it was said of the shepherd; 'IF HE LOSE' - NOT IF THE SHEEP STRAYS...
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. HE DOES NOT LOSE SHEEP!
John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that EVERY ONE WHICH SEETH THE SON, AND BELIEVETH ON HIM, MAY HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE: AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY.
So, when asked; 'Can I lose my salvation?' Clarify; 'YOUR SALVATION, OR THE LORD'S?' Psalm 27:1 The Lord is MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Salvation is not in the hands of the believer to keep. JESUS REMAINS THE SAVIOR THE KEEPER AND THE PRESENTER(Colossians 1:22). SALVATION is not a substance handed you like a Christmas gift you can misplace. No! Salvation made you. You are product of divine sacrifice. It would take an absolute reversal of this process to lose your salvation. Christ saves forever!
"Striking the Rock" today is nothing more than the disfigurement of the character of the Father to His children. Telling them that He is angry when He is not. Telling them that He uses evil to "teach us a lesson," when He doesn't! Telling them that His blessings are earned by good works when they are freely given by Grace.
Telling them that He will withdraw His salvation at any time, for any reason whatsoever when in reality, Sonship in Christ can NEVER be reversed. As ministers of the New Testament, we must never be found doing this at any time.
We must strive CONTINUALLY to present the true nature of God as revealed in Christ to the people. God is good and remains good! HE CHANGETH NOT! In fact, His omnipotence is seen solely in the consistency of His character regardless of external influences. He will remain God regardless of man!
Dear preacher, stop striking the Rock — preach the Truth about God!
